April Is Autism Awareness Month

I will never ask anyone to understand Autism, why??? because I simply do not understand it myself. Autism is so complexed and everyday is a different ball game...  BUT... just spare a thought when you are out and about when children look like they are misbehaving.. Austism is a hidden disability, you can't always tell if someone is autistic.

A child that is fixed on an electronic device that may have it on a little too loud.. That child may be trying to drain out the noise that is burning in their ears. That could be people talking, the bell, even the noise the wheels are making.

A child that is lashing out or shouting at a parent or a loved one. That child may be finding it hard being in the surroundings they are in, maybe walked a different way to usual. They aren't doing it to be unruly or disrespectful it's just their way of coping.

A child that constantly interrupts a conversation. They aren't doing it to be rude, If the conversation keeps going they feel may miss the opportunity to comment on the subject. Children with Autism brains change the way it gathers information.

Anyone knows a child with autism is totally different to the next, just a change to a simple normal everyday situation can cause a meltdown. These meltdowns are extremely frustrating for both children and anyone around them at the time.

Meltdowns can occur when a teacher is off school, cutting carrots in sticks instead of circles, changing a brand of tomato sauce. Normally the most simple things.

April is Autism awareness month, please share and raise awareness because at one point my child didn't have Autism either.

Why I’m Proud to be a Brummie

Birmingham is known as Britain’s ‘Second City’ and for good reason. Brummie’s may get some flack from time to time over our distinctive accents, but despite sometimes being the butt of a joke, the famous Brummie sense of humour means these remarks are like water off a duck’s back. Birmingham is a fantastic place to work, live and raise a family. Here are some of my top reasons why I love Birmingham.

1. Work Life

Birmingham offers a work-life balance that generates a special type of happiness. There are big names, such as HSBC and High Speed 2 as well as start-up companies that create plenty of exciting opportunities and appealing jobs in Birmingham. The convenience and variety found within the city also makes a huge difference for workers, from lunch breaks to errand spots. As one of the least congested cities in the UK, getting around is made easy and house prices are even shockingly fair.

2. Canals and greenery

There is nothing like a city that has some nature mixed throughout. We may not have a natural coast, but there are five canals in Birmingham and you never need to go too far to get to some greenery at one of our 571 parks.  Plus, there are lakes and reservoirs that make for the perfect afternoon out. After visiting other cities and feeling like I was in a concrete jungle, my appreciation for this part of Birmingham has only grown. Fun fact: In 1774, Birmingham minister Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen. From us Brummies, we thank you Mr. Priestley. Birmingham and our 8,000 acres of open space wouldn’t be, feel or be appreciated the same without your discovery.

3. Foodies are forever happy here.

Olive magazine declared Birmingham ‘Britain’s foodiest town’ for a reason. Did you know the famous Balti was created in Birmingham? You can find over 100 Balti houses here, with the majority of them located in a go-to destination for visitors and locals: the Balti Triangle. We also have numerous Michelin-starred restaurants with a street food scene to match it. In fact, outside of London, there are more Michelin-starred restaurants in Birmingham than any other city in the UK. P.S. In case chocolate is more your thing, we are also the home of Cadbury and also have a chocolate factory.

4. B-Movies

Birmingham is a place that fuels creativity. Many filmmakers are taking advantage of the city for set purposes, and there is amazing industry talent that comes straight from and to the city. From mainstream to independent films, you can find it all. The city is actually frequently used to double as London in movies and series. Plus Peaky Blinders, one of the hottest series on TV right now is set and filmed in our very own streets of Birmingham.

5. Diversity

Birmingham is an extremely diverse city with people of all ages and backgrounds and from all walks of life. In fact, a third of the residents are of ethnic minority origin. There are over a million people who live here, and mostly all are accepting with their arms wide open. We are very, very thankful for the rich diversity we have here.

We Are Going On A Bear Hunt - 4 in 1 Games Review

We was very excited to get to review the 4 in 1 games. Lexie has just learnt about the Going on a bear hunt at school and since it's been a firm favourite at bedtime. She has been telling me all the different activities that they have been doing since looking at it at school. It's actually one of my favourites to read too, I can't help but feel for the little bear that just wants to make a friend.

The 4 in 1 games is packed with hours of fun - Bingo, Snap, 4 Shapes In A Row & Twisted Pairs. I love how the game are quick and simple, it doesn't leave long for Lexie to get fed up or lose concentration with the games.

Lexie loved playing snap, trying to match up the pairs and reading some of the writing on the cards as we was playing.

4 Shapes In A Row is a great game the youngest goes first by spinning the spinner whatever the spinner lands on the person puts there counter on. Only 1 token can be placed on the coloured spaces. The first person to get a line of 4 in a row is the winner. A perfect game for learning different colours and shapes.

Twisted pairs is a great game of memory place all cards turned down on the floor they you turn two over to see if they match. If you get a matching pair you can have another go. If you get a BEAR card the player must shout out Bear take the bearcats shuffle all the remaining cards, so the cards are all mixed up again.

The last game was Bingo each player takes a Bingo board and counters you have little picture cards that you turn over and see if it matches on your board. If you have the matching picture you cover it with a counter.

You can buy this great game set from Paul Lamond Games

RRP £11.

Primula Are Going Green For The NSPCC - #Dreambig

Primula have changed there packing on tubes to green to support the NSPCC. They’ve launched a #DreamBig campaign which is all about giving children the freedom to dream. Those 1 in 20 UK children who suffer abuse aren’t free to dream. I'm so shocked by this every child should have the chance to dream. My whole childhood was based on dreaming and using my imagination, I literally had so many great times making up different things with my toys and adventures.

I remember building a circus from boxes ( a was a huge blue peter fan) and getting all my toys and making up all roles in the circus. For a while I wanted to grow up and work in the circus. I really couldn't imagine my childhood without having my dreams #Dreambig.

Children who are safe from abuse are free to dream but unfortunately for some, that’s not always possible.

Peter Wanless, Chief Executive of the NSPCC said, “Every child is born with hopes and dreams for the future but if a child’s head is full of fear, anxiety or loneliness then there’s no space for dreams. Childhood should be a time when we’re free to dream. Abuse can destroy that – but it never should”

Buying a limited edition tube of Primula Cheese will allow us to support the NSPCC to help children across the UK grow up free from abuse and free to dream about being anything they want to be. 20% of the profits from these tubes will go directly to the NSPCC with the remaining profits going to the charitable causes we already support.

Look out for the new design in stores and join in the fight for every childhood by raising funds to help some of the most vulnerable children in the UK.

Pick up your limited edition tube in Asda, Morrison’s, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and selected smaller independent stores from 27th February 2017.

Primula Cheese have created limited edition NSPCC tubes where 20% of profits go directly to the NSPCC (the remaining profits go to existing charities and good causes as normal).

My Loves & Likes!

I haven't done a post like this for ages, so it's going to be a round up of lots of different things that have made me extremely happy. My year 2017 hasn't started off great, but I'm taking each day at a time and just trying to battle a day at a time.

My first happy moment was my little sister coming back from working away, she had only been gone 3.5 months but I miss her so much when she isn't around. So it's Been good to have her here back in the UK.

Soooo I went to Birmingham Horror Con in February and met the lovely Tony Moran, he was really friendly. He payed the unmasked Micheal Myers in Halloween. I got one of my Funko pop vinyls signed and a cheeky selfie.

Hitting my 4 stone award at slimming world, I can't believe I've shifted FOUR whole stone... As I treat I got another tattoo, it was actually a cover up from my first ever tattoo an elephant tattoo depicts prosperity and good luck. But because of its role in nature, it also embodies power, strength, dignity and longevity.

My baby boy turning ten!! He had such a fantastic day, it couldn't of gone any better.

Lush emoji bubble bar, I loved all the Valentine's Range but the emoji bar so cool. Definitely my favourite bubble bar in the range so far.

Turning 10!!

Ok so my baby boy turned double figures this weekend and I've felt so emotional leading up to it. His last birthday he got diagnosed with Autism and in all fairness I still haven't fully accepted it. This year we wanted to do something special, for him to celebrate with his friends, to have a stress free and a birthday to remember for all the right reasons..

So last year we went to the launch of RushUK which is really close to where we live. Raiden is very energetic and can get very excited easily. Raiden absolutely loved in there, so much to do and so much to engage in. He was able to be his normal self without worrying about what others think.. We knew it was going to be his first choice for his party. We actually entered a competition where there was only two entries, but sadly we didn't win.

So without a doubt the party was booked and all was well. The whole emails, waivers etc was very stressful and the food I confirmed twice still wasn't put on or the extra children I added on...

All in all Raiden had a fantastic time on the weekend, the smiles I caught all day was worth every penny. His friends all had a fantastic time, the party staff was amazing and couldn't help enough. He definitely had a birthday to remember..

His cake was from the lovely love cake supplies  which isn't far from Rush in Cotteridge. Rich was an amazing help with the whole design of the cake. I really had no idea what I wanted and he came up with Pikachu on the pokeball. We had so many comments on the cake and it tasted delicious.
