Baking Bread A Simple Way



We made bread in the holidays we break it up and use normal flour and bread flour as it can be quite heavy with just bread flour sometimes.


7oz strong white bread flour

7oz of plain white flour

2 tbsp melted butter

½ tsp salt

1 ¼ tsp fast action dried yeast

1 cup of warm water



Put the flour into a large bowl, add the butter and mix well, stir in salt and yeast.

Make a hole in the dry ingredients and add enough of the warm water to make a soft (not sticky) dough. If the dough is too sticky, just add a little more flour, or add a drop of water if the dough is too dry. Warm water reacts with the yeast better making the dough expand.

Knead for 5 minutes and then cover and put aside to rise for around 45 mins. Knead again then put into a greased loaf tin.





Bake at Gas 6 for about 30 minutes.
