Easy Jigsaw Puzzle Photo Frames Craft

In the week we made some DIY photoframes. Which I thought would double up as perfect  presents too.

What you will need :
Puzzle bits

First of all I cut out a heart and got Raiden to glue and stick the puzzle pieces on. I waited a good few days for it to dry and we needed to use a good amount of glue to stick the pieces on.

Next we painted over the pieces, making sure all bits was covered. We waited for that to dry and then we cut the photo out to place on the back with the photo facing outwards.

We sellotaped it on and placed the ribbon on to hang the Photo Frame up. I added some cute bows to decorate.

Perfect and simple to do. Decided I'm gonna make a few of these for my wedding decorations. Think they will be perfect.

Back To School At Clarks Review

I'm always so sceptical about getting school shoes the last week in the holidays. I leave it to the last week as Raiden seems to have a huge growth spurt in the holidays. We had pre- booked an appointment and was shocked to see the amount of people when we walked it. We was seem straight away and Raidens feet was measured by the electronic feet sizing machine. Which is awesome as Raiden thinks its super cool like a spy scanning machine.  Raiden has a wide foot (H) so the lady went and got the size he needed.

Looking around there was a good amount of staff on and it seemed calm and collective. The lady came out with two pairs of shoes, which was a but disappointing only have two pairs to choose from. Raiden choose the jack nanos ( Jack shine junior) The  shoes come with Jack Nano detailing and reflective panels. The chunky rubber sole gives toe and heel protection while double riptape straps ensure easy on and off. Agion antimicrobial linings fight bacteria.

Each pair comes with a Jack Nano Yotoy ( you just lift the flap up inside the shoe and its hidden away) and an access token so you can unlock another level of fun on our fantastic free Clarks Jack Nano Racing app. For more details on how to download from the Apple Store or Google Play click HERE Collect all three tokens and race intrepid Jack on the trickiest circuits!

What to thank you the staff at the kings heath store, making the back to school experience stress free. Can't believe we was in and out within 15 minutes.

Faber-Castell Review

We got sent some great arty items from Faber Castell. Faber-Castell is one of the world's largest manufacturers of pens, pencils, other office supplies (e.g., staplers, slide rules, erasers, rulers) and art supplies, founded in 1761. With the new term approaching these are  some fab back to school essentials.

In our huge bag of goodies was Pear Shaped Easy Grip Crayons, Pen Connector Bucket & some Scribolino's. Both children are a crafty bunch so art supplies always go down well.

First up the brightly coloured pear shaped crayons which are great for little hands, because of there chunky shape they are easy to hold. Lexie loved using these and had a steady hand while effortlessly colouring. The crayons are erasable and don't stain, so children's hands stay clean when using.

The pen connector bucket is pretty cool, first of all it comes in a huge plastic tub to keep them together neat and tidy. They have strong tips and easy to grip and hold. The fun and innovative “connector clips” allow children to create their own designs and models, as well as create their very own master pieces. When they are all connected you can literally just roll them up and place them snug in the tub. Raiden liked these he said they made him draw non messy. I think because of the sharpness of the tip its easier to control than a normal felt tip pen. The pens are water based so are easier to wash out of hands and clothes.

The Scribolino's have chunky pens with dents in he middle so its easier to grip. The rollerballs make it easier to write and glides on to the paper. The scribolino collection is ideal for children learning to write. The ergonomic barrel and three finger grip is great for relaxed writing and suitable for both right and left handers. They come with an extra cartridge so you get two for the price of one. Raiden found these easy to write with and they are love to use.

All products are available to buy at to buy at

Also i wanted to mention the Playful fun painting with the Faber-Castell app "Creative Kids" The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for the iPad free of charge.

Wobbling mice, crawling bugs and giggling colour-ghosts – the Creative Kids app brings colour pencil pictures to life! It offers numerous fascinating applications to young artists from the age of six who want to experience great painting adventures. It's easy as pie: step by step the app illustrates how moving images and animations can be created with paper, colour pencil and iPad. Children's fine motor skills, creativity and imagination are playfully trained at the same time.

Me Vs The Slimpod Part 2

Back in June, I talked to you a bit about the slimpod and how it was changing my eating habits. Click Here to see the post I wanted to do an update on how my progress is going.

I'm been using the slimpod for over 70 days now & I've dropped to listening to three times a week.  After being so sceptical about the whole thing at the start, I can't believe how much its changed my life.

I've been suffering with a bout of imsonima and its been leaving me so hungry as I'm awake for around 18 hours of the day. Got to admit I had hit a bit of a block and my weight stayed the same and eventually I put back on 4lbs. The last two weeks I've been listening to the slimpod while making my morning cuppa.  I've managed to lost 7lbs in two weeks and I'm now only 1lb off my 2 stone lost.

I've also smashed my targets as that size 16 dress fits already! Yay :-)

My eating habits have changed so much and I'm finally happy with my mindset and I can't actually say no. I'm super happy knowing that I can finally do this in my own time and my own way.  I'm so much more happier and motivated, while getting slimmer.

Popagami Craft Review & Giveaway

Even though I love messy craft, sometimes it nice just get to something nice and easy and clean free to do... So how much fun can you have with one sheet of paper?

Popagami is a twist on origami that has been updated into the 21st Century. An educational activity developing contraction and fine motor skills. I was sent a popagami combo pack which included a book - The World of Popagami, Origami Animal fun and 24 popagami sheets ( animal characters)  The sheets can be folded and inflated to create different animal characters.

The animals in the pack accompany the book ‘World of Popagami’ so that you can them use the animals in various seasonal games, parties and decorations.

What I liked about the popagami is its already the right size and ready to fold. The instructions looked pretty confusing to me even though they a re in step by step. I had to do a couple of folds before getting it right. My first attempt was a huge fail, as I didn't follow the instructions for the animal. Whoops!

We got dad to have a go and he made it look so easy, within a few minutes a leopard was folded and inflated. My six year old mastered it pretty well with needing a bit if help in some places. The use of Imagination to create these animals is amazing and is a real proud moment when its complete. These are a great conversation piece when back to school, making new friends and seeing which animals you can make together.

I was really pleased with how much detail there is in the  Popagami and the end result is fantastic. Raiden was pretty calm and enjoyed doing the Popagami and was eager to do more. The book is full of awesome ideas for use of the popagami like gift boxes, lights, mobile and season decoration's.

The Combo pack is £7.99 and I think is fantastic for the money. I do think they are aimed at slightly older children, maybe junior age.

I have a combo pack up for grabs, please see the Rafflecopter on how to enter below.

Cornflower Play

Amazing how something that costs 49p can be so much fun. I've learnt it's the simple things that entertain the most.I'm not shy to anything messy, its a great experience to get your hands messy and cornflower play is no different.

A box of cornflower is only 49p from Aldi and all you do is add water in a bowl. The texture is very strange as its rock hard until you pick it up then it goes like slime. So much fun. Even the smurfs had a bath in it today. Simple but effective fun with lots of smiles around.

The Anaganimals And The Wishing Tree Book Review

We was thrilled to be asked to review a new 36 paperback book '' The Anagranimals and the Wishing Tree''. We are encouraging Raiden to read more and more and bedtime is the perfect place to start. The Anagranimals and The Wishing Tree is a book written by Leith Moghli and illustrated by Ian King. The book is suitable for ages 5 to 9.

The Anagranimals have not always been Anagranimals.
Once upon a time they were ordinary every day animals.
But the animals wanted to be anything but ordinary!

They longed to be able to do things that other animals could do. So, when a magical wishing tree grants them a special wish, they each wish for the best parts of their favourite animals… Life on Pogo Bogo will never be the same again. The Anaganimals and the Wishing Tree is beautifully illustrated unique pictures with a cheeky tale. A truly interesting original story.

Raiden loved the story and the mismatched animals and liked figuring out which animals was which. He got stuck on reading some of the story as he names are hard to pronounce. Me and dad also enjoyed reading this book and it was funny in places. The characters are appealing and we had fun taking about other combinations we could think off. Its gone straight up to number one on the bedtime story list. We was super pleased to find out there is going to be a second book and maybe some cuddly soft toys too.

The book RRP is £7.99 and you can buy it on Amazon HERE

Lucozade Revive Review

I'm actually not a massive fizzy drink person, I will have it now and again when I fancy It.  I'm actually tying to cut my caffeine so I'm super weary of sports drinks. What puts me off is the amount of calories and sugar they can contain.  I'm currently battling with insomnia so I'm finding it so hard with both kids it being the summer holidays. I was sent some samples of the strawberry and lime revive from Lucozade to try and write my thoughts on it.

During my working hours before the children as born and my 7am till 6pm shifts I lived on orange Lucozade, it use to get me though my day and recharge me for the day ahead.  Since then Lucozade have brought out new and improved flavours with alot less calories! Lemongrass with Ginger, Cranberry with Acai, Orange with Acai, and Strawberry with Lime and they we only 50 calories per bottle. Revive from Lucozade is the perfect guilt-free summer drink.  It has 75% less sugars than a normal energy drink.

Packed with energy releasing B-vitamins, this lightly sparkling drink can help you cool down, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalised to help you beat the 3pm slump.

I actually really love the flavour, personally the other three flavours wouldn't appeal to me at all. I liked the extra kick but subtle taste of lime. It has given me slightly a bit of energy and I did feel a bit more awake after about 30 minutes after drinking it. Totally in love its the flavour, its definably  going to be added to the shopping list.

Walkers Mighty Lights Review

Nothing beats getting new yummy things to try out, the kids was thrilled to open a box full of  Mighty Lights crisps they hadn't tried before.  I was pleased as they have 30% less fat than the standard crisps. We was lucky to be sent all three new flavours of the tasty, ridged crisps - roast chicken, cheese and onion and lightly salted.

All the flavours are suitable for vegetarians, and are available in shops nationwide. They're made from real potatoes with no artificial colours of preservatives-  and they're a source of fibre.

While they fought over which flavour they wanted. ( but they seemed to manage each if of the flavours before asking for more) i made the other half taste test first as he can polish a multipack off in one go.

Roast chicken - I loved these they had a subtle chicken flavour, these was daddy's and my daughters favourite.

Lightly salted - these was my sons favourite, I found them a bit plain, but perfect if you don't like the overpowering taste.

Cheese and onion - these was my favourite and I'm not normally over keen on this flavour. I liked the taste of the cheese which made your taste buds tingle.

I loved the texture of the crinkle cut, it gives that extra crunch which makes the taste last longer and its fantastic that they are only around 114 calories per bag, means I can still have a little treat without feeling guilty. I do like to treat myself once or twice to a bag each week.

They are also great for the lunch-boxes  knowing that they are better and 30% less fat than a normal bag if crisps. I really loved the cute packaging too which the new mighty lights flavours. I'm secretly hoping they do a smokey bacon flavour that would be so nice,  but not so good for my waistline haha

This was a Sponsored Review in association with Walkers. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Two Tone Fairy Cakes

We decided to do a bit of baking this weekend and we wanted something different so we made some two tone fairy cakes

We used a simple fairy cake mix which makes 12 fairy cakes.

100g of self raising flour
1tsp of baking powder
100g butter
100g caster sugar
2 large eggs
2 tbsp milk
Food colouring ( pink & yellow)

For icing
Icing sugar
Vanilla essence
Food colouring
Sweets to decorate.

Add flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add the butter, eggs and sugar. Beat together until well mixed. If the mixture is a little thick, mix in a little milk ( or water) .

Evenly divide the mixture between two bowls and add a few drops of different food colouring and mix well.
Then add into cake cases a spoon of different colour in each half and bake for 12-18 minutes on gas mark 4.

To make the butter icing add butter and icing together, add vanilla essence and food colouring until its a paste. Add and use sweets to decorate.

Duplo & Tube Painting Activity

Even though kids love to paint it can be pretty boring just to use paintbrushes all the time. There is so many things you can use to print or paint to may unique pictures.

Today we decided to use duplo bricks and an old toilet tube. The make lovely rainbow prints when you dip them in the paint.  They make a lovely pattern and you can even double up and use it as pretty nifty wrapping paper for a special somebody too.

Perfect and different painting activity to keep little or big hands amused.

CD Craft - Reuse & Recycle

We all have old stratched CD's or DVDs lying around. I've found a nifty way of recycling them with a simple & unique craft. I got some glue on gems and foam pieces from Poundland. You could use anything to stick on these, feathers, felt, cut magazines up and stick them on, beads or even buttons.

What you will need :
Old CDs or DVDs
Foam shapes
really anything you want to decorate them with

Its pretty straight forward make sure you add and decorate the shiny side of the CD.

Once dry stick the two sides not decorated together and use ribbon or wire to hang up. They are a simple idea to jazz up a bedroom and they look so pretty when the light catches them.
